Challenge
Traditionally, Community Time featured teacher-delivered workshops. We needed to foster a culture of action and promote visibility while giving students the tools to create meaningful, self-directed projects. The challenge was designing an accessible framework that would build foundational understanding for future inquiry work across all year levels.
Solution
We implemented an aligned process using the learning design cycle, with age-appropriate documentation that evolved from drawing and ideating in early years to planning and scheduling in upper primary. Upper primary students were empowered to build and deliver their own clubs and workshops during Community Time, finding alliances within the school community.
Impact
Students developed a strong fundamental understanding of project planning and execution. When PYP6 students approached their final year exhibition, they had clear knowledge of the process, demonstrating improved confidence and capability in designing and implementing their passion projects.

Challenge
Integrating a project-based visual arts curriculum with learning outcomes to coincide with seasonal and school-wide celebration days. The goal was to tie thematic processes and student-centered approaches together to engage students while promoting the school’s brand and global events.
Solution
Developed clear, structured planning that linked skills and learning outcomes to thematic connections. Created fully resourced modules—both digital and physical—to inspire project work, ensuring students could research, plan, and develop their projects in time for display.
Impact
Student work was showcased to the entire school community, fostering pride and inclusion. The exhibitions created memorable experiences, increased student event participation, and strengthened the school’s brand through compelling visual storytelling.
